Meet Leon Panetta At SIA’s Annual Award Dinner

Leon Panetta has had one of the most consequential careers of any American public servant in the past fifty years serving as both the Director of the CIA and Secretary of Defense.  In his recently published book, Worthy Fights, Panetta recounts his storied career in public service and details his time at the Defense Department, CIA and the White House.

On creating a new defense strategy, Panetta writes this;

We are the strongest power on Earth. The key to that power is not only in the technology we have, but also in our people, and, most important, in the values that guide our actions. We must not be forced to choose between security and our values. We can and we must preserve both. (Worthy Fights, Panetta, p. 392)
