WASHINGTON—Feb. 7, 2023—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today released the following statement from SIA President and CEO John Neuffer regarding President Biden’s State of the Union Address.
“During tonight’s State of the Union Address, President Biden highlighted last year’s historic enactment of the CHIPS and Science Act, a landmark new law that will greatly strengthen America’s economy, national security, and semiconductor supply chains. Companies in the semiconductor ecosystem have responded enthusiastically since the CHIPS Act was introduced, announcing new projects across America totaling hundreds of billions of dollars in private investments and supporting hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs.
“We applaud President Biden and leaders in Congress for their tireless work to enact the CHIPS Act and urge the administration to ensure the CHIPS Act is implemented in an effective, efficient, and timely manner. Doing so will maximize the new law’s impact and reinvigorate chip production and innovation in America for many years to come.
“We also look forward to working with leaders in Washington to fortify America’s high-tech workforce, invest in basic research and innovation, and promote free and fair trade and resilient global supply chains.”
