WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 14, 2021 – Alliance for Automotive Innovation (Auto Innovators) president and CEO John Bozzella and Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) president and CEO John Neuffer released the following joint statement today following a joint industry workshop on the global chip shortage convened by the two associations. Workshop participants included experts and executives from the automotive and semiconductor sectors.
“Leaders from the semiconductor and automotive industries have a shared commitment to resolving the global chip shortage as quickly and efficiently as possible. Today’s workshop was an important opportunity for both industries to exchange information about the shortage and identify areas for continued collaboration to end it.
“To strengthen America’s chip supply chains over the long term, we believe it is critical for President Biden and Congress to fund the domestic semiconductor manufacturing incentives and research initiatives in the CHIPS for America Act. Federal investments in domestic chip production and innovation will strengthen America’s economy and global competitiveness.
“We look forward to continuing the constructive dialogue among industry leaders to resolve the global chip shortage and working with policymakers in Washington to boost chip production in the U.S.”
