SIA Statement on President Trump’s Tweets Regarding Export Controls

WASHINGTON—Feb. 18, 2020—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released the following statement today from President & CEO John Neuffer regarding President Trump’s tweets from this morning related to controls on exports to China. SIA represents U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research, with members accounting for approximately 95 percent of U.S. semiconductor company sales.

“We applaud President Trump’s tweets supporting U.S. companies being able to sell products to China and opposing proposed regulations that would unduly curtail that ability. As we have discussed with the Administration, sales of non-sensitive, commercial products to China drive semiconductor research and innovation, which is critical to America’s economic strength and national security.”
